Ian, There's some very good painters on FAA and it always jazzes me to come across them. You are certainly among them.

You said "emotion is what connects us"...my point on this yes and no :)... as I see it, emotion connects us as physical bodies, but bodies are just like a glove, we use it to touch reality on this plane... so if You think You are only about "touching" then it's correct :) In my view, emotions and senses help us in the beginning, when we are little, but when we grow up, You don't need Your glove to connect, You have eyes, ears and more, which is symbol that if developed, the brain will produce mind that will be Your looking glass to other realities and planes...so for me for example, emotions are not as important as states of consciousness... for emotion will only commune to the body, but state of consciousness communes to any and every aspect of creation....so with the help of emotion You can commune with another human, but You can't with someone from other Galaxy... but change the state of consciousness and You will find friends and lots of knowledge from.... let's say 26 th Universe :).... and I am not joking :)... and also for me consciousness is more real then human body.... body is chemical and disposable, where if You are Lord of Your Consciousness, You will be able to create any body to experience reality...:) I am sure it doesn't make sense, but it shouldn't... for senses are so limited :) Cheers! :)

This painting says a lot! :) It is like the whole Life appreciation is centered in this physical body... and it is like it is saying: "I love it, I don't want to let it go!"... but on the background , in mighty grey shades is a head of a Great Serpent, it is pressing Your head as if saying: "The physical body is only a computer, only a vehicle for Your true Being to experience life on this plane....Don't have such a firm grip on it! or You will miss on Your true Powerful God Being which You are! And Your true Self is not in the body, the body is only a tiny focus point, but Your true God Being is every where, in even aspect of creation...let go of the body and You will discover Your Omniscience and Omnipresence and therefor You will gain Life eternal and can use this body too if You like it so much" :) Great Message...although the body is colorful... the main Force and Presence is not it, but all around it! :)... but it feels like at least for that time being You have chosen to look at life through the right eye... which means through emotions....but emotions are chemical in nature, they belong to the body/vehicle...the real You is far more Powerful and omnipresent! :)

Ian Hemingway replied:

That's beautiful, Elena! My body is my record of living, and it is what's concrete. I use the body, which I believe conveys at least as much emotion as a portrait and yet remain anonymous, to evoke its power and weakness. Emotion is what connects us, and universal, I use my emotion to capture these moments. Thoughts and memories are fleeting... I have no real history, hence the formless ground, against a figure/ body that is grounded and "real", together they form me. Does that make any sense?
